Many mortar and wall putty powder companies use chemical raw materials such as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. Some companies are not very clear about which viscosity of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose to choose.
01 Plastering mortar
For plastering mortar, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose with a viscosity of 10,000-20,000 should be selected. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose with this viscosity can be used as a water retaining agent and retardant to make the mortar pumpable and avoid cracking due to drying too quickly after being applied, increasing the mortar strength after hardening.
02 Wall Putty powder
For wall putty powder, choose hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose of about 10,000. It can retain water well and has a lower viscosity. Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose with this viscosity mainly plays a role in water retention, bonding and lubrication in putty, preventing cracks and dehydration caused by rapid water loss. It also enhances the adhesion of putty and reduces sagging during construction, the construction is relatively smooth.
03 Tile adhesive
The hydroxypropyl methylcellulose in tile adhesives should be with a viscosity of 10,000. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose with this viscosity can significantly improve the bonding strength of ceramic tile adhesives, increase water retention and construction period, be delicate, uniform, easy to construct, and have good resistance to wet migration.
